Have your students build an integrated circuit with LEDs used in readout devices such as calculators, thermometers and clocks.
Ask them what pins determine the segments of the number seven, then have them wire and determine the pin outs for each number from 0 to 9 with this seven-segment LED display.
Designed by Don Sundys, a Kentucky science consultant, the kit can be used as a single-lab station or demo. Buy several kits for use as a lab. Grades 10-12.
Includes: rubber feet, black and red wire, breadboard, 9V battery clip, 9V battery holder, nuts, washers, screws, masonite, LED display, resistors, and
instructions. Pliers and wire strippers are also required.
