Product Information
Designed for use at one workstation, this apparatus lets students do hands-on experiments to learn about rates of reaction. Using three different concentrations of reactants at a time, students prepare reagents and press the plunger. Students record how long it takes for an “X” on a piece of paper under the beaker to disappear, as sodium thiosulfate reacts with hydrochloric acid to produce sulfur, a cloudy precipitate. Finally, students graph the time it takes for the X to disappear vs. the concentration of the solution. Includes a teacher’s guide. Please note: Hydrochloric acid, sodium thiosulfate, a ring stand and a stopwatch or clock are required, but not included.
