The Darwin Series: Arrival of Life Kit (Teacher-Developed, Classroom-Tested)

Product Information
Appropriate for Grades 6-10 Developed by Rich Benz, teacher and author of Ecology and Evolution: Islands of Change (listed below), this activity will challenge your students to recreate history. When Darwin left the Galapagos Islands, he had many questions about the arrival of life there. When he reached home, he sent letters to different scientists asking them questions. Here, he has written a letter to your students asking their expert advice on how plants and animals could have arrived on these remote, recently volcanic islands located 960km west of Equador. Your students will explore currents, winds, dispersal and distribution. With your guidance, they will design a lab for testing seeds soaked in salt water to observe if they grow. Includes excellent instructions for implementation.
