Product Information
Yenka Modeling Software
The latest generation of educational modeling software, Yenka provides realistic simulations to illustrate concepts and allows students to easily create content. Equally at home on whiteboards or when used by individual students, this software enables experimentation with the topics you’re teaching in a safe, accurate virtual world. The individual Yenka programs and bundles are delivered to you electronically. Simply download a free plug-in, which includes non-time-limited demo, then register your purchased serial number to gain access to the new areas of the software. The site license allows use on any number of teacher and student computers at one postal address.
System Requirements
Windows: XP/Vista (32-bit or later), Pentium III, 1 GHz or higher, 256MB RAM, graphics card with OpenGL support and up-to-date drivers, 32MB of graphics card memory
Motion
Experiment freely with forces and motion, with control over a wide range of parameters. Through simulated demos, you can add balls, blocks and carts, position them, and drop, accelerate or collide them. Define parameters like mass, elasticity, coefficient of friction, dimensions, velocity and driving force, and add your own images to give context. You can also graph the motion of your parts, plot a wide range of quantities, like velocity, momentum, kinetic and potential energy, or acceleration.
Electricity
From the basic batteries, bulbs, and switches to more advanced logic gates, integrated circuits and semiconductors, the software provides an understanding of all electricity concepts. Build AC and DC circuits using a wide range of electrical components, and investigate how they behave with mathematically accurate simulations. Creating circuits is simple - just use the mouse to drag components from the vast library onto the screen, and then link them by drawing wires between their terminals. As you draw, the animation shows the design springing to life.
Light and Sound
Complete realistic simulations of experiments with water, sound or EM waves. Uou can also model ray diagrams for optical systems. To help you get started, a wide range of classroom content with ready-made models, and a set of training videos are provided.
Inorganic Chemistry
A virtual chemistry laboratory where you can model experiments and reactions safely and easily, this software also allows you to view reactions using 3-D animations. Drag chemicals, equipment, and glassware from the toolbars at the side of the screen, and combine them as you wish. Then choose whatever quantities and concentrations you like. Reactions are modeled accurately as soon as you mix the chemicals. A powerful graphing tool is also included to plot data from your reactions, like pH vs. volume.
Electrochemistry
Electrolysis, electroplating, and cells - a wide selection of simulated activities are included with this software. Choose from a range of metal or carbon electrodes, and combine them with one of 28 different electrolytes. For each electrolyte, you can set the concentration and volume precisely. Add a battery and wire it to the electrodes, and watch your simulation run. Information about the reactions that take place is displayed in the reaction details window. You can look at the reactions and properties at each electrode, as well as at the overall cell equation. Make measurements from your simulation using equipment like a thermometer, a pH meter or a balance, or use the graph tool to plot simulated experimental data.
